Indications
Voltaren Gel (diclofenac sodium) is indicated in adults and children as treatment for severe forms of moderate pain, including moderate to severe osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, pemphigus, acute pain, and menstrual cramps.
Contraindications
Voltaren Gel (diclofenac sodium) should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or any other active ingredient of Voltaren Gel or any of the ingredients in the product.
Efficacy
Diclofenac has been shown to be active in the treatment of osteoarthritis and other forms of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Diclofenac has also been shown to be active in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. Diclofenac has a narrow therapeutic range, and is absorbed from the gel into the systemic tissues and then through the blood. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Diclofenac has no systemic absorption and is rapidly and completely cleared from the body in the first 2-4 hours. Diclofenac has no effect on the activity of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or naproxen. Diclofenac can be taken with or without food. Do not take Diclofenac if you are using aspirin for any other type of pain or inflammation.
Side Effects
The most common effects of Voltaren Gel (diclofenac sodium) are pain, back pain, swelling, diarrhea, constipation, and diarrhea. The pain may get worse or worse while taking diclofenac.
